Dear colleagues,
In collaboration with geriatricians and general practitioners across various European countries, the EuGMS SIG Falls and Fractures has developed a survey (OCTOPUS study) aimed at understanding prescribing practices for osteoporosis after a hip fracture in older persons.
Throughout Europe the prescription rates of osteoporosis treatment after hip fractures are low. Previous studies showed that this cannot solely be attributed to organisational problems. With the OCTOPUS study we hope to get more insight in the reasons behind the low prescription rates.
Together with general practitioners from the European General Practitioner Research Network (EGPRN) we are sharing the survey with all European geriatricians and general practitioners. Already 250 general practitioners completed the survey, which took them on average 15 minutes.
